Foreign Body Removal

foreignbody_interior.jpg

Foreign body removal procedures are conducted when a foreign object is lodged in the eye, usually as a result of an injury. At least 99% of these procedures are done within the Lafayette Family Eye Care office.

Dr. Piccione will examine the injury, remove the foreign body, and conduct a thorough exam to assess and treat the damage. You may be prescribed topical ointment or eye drops to avoid infection. Recovery heavily depends on the injury sustained and the effects of the injury; however, the majority of patients make a full and quick recovery.
